First week of school

The first few days of school I cried.........My husband I think was convinced that I was crying because my baby was going to school, I cried because my baby has a hard time understanding and hard time talking I was so scared for her and I hurt for her. My precious baby that I still find myself talking for and I always rephrase every question that strangers ask her was going to a school that I felt wasn't ready for her.

I made Madi a label for her backpack and also one for her lunchbox I emailed every teacher to make sure they knew she had an expressive and receptive language disorder. This week has been so draining!

Jump Start

Madison started at Jump Start Ped. Therapy on Monday with Mrs. Scott. I have to tell you she really loved it!
We have to check Madison out of school every Monday and Wednesday at 1:30pm in order to make our appointment at 2:30pm in Keller, which is 45-55 minutes away. At first I thought the school was going to give me a hard time about checking her out but all I have to do is make sure I get a note at every session.
Well......Mrs. Scott played candyland with Madi and also played memory with her and she really pushed Madi to say every word clearly and also Mrs. Scott gave her several directions and Madi seemed to follow them with just a bit of trouble.
This evening during dinner Madison said, "I am going to pour my water into my cup." I could have cried!!!!!!

Meet Madison

She is perfect! Madison was born May 26,2005, I had perfect pregnancy no problems and she was delivered by c-section at 39 weeks 4 days. My husband and I were immediately in love with her she was so pretty, little and everything that I could have hoped for.

Madison has an older brother Drew that is also great he is two years older and a very very funny boy, he loves baseball and playing the piano. He has no problems he potty trained fine, he talked fine, he was able to read after 2 months in kindergarten.
Back to my Madi-Bell, when she was around 3 years old my husband and I were concerned that she wasn't really talking. We went to our pediatrician and the doctor convinced us that Madison was just stubborn and just because we had an older child that did everything right on time and was advanced that we shouldn't worry.
The next May when Madison turned 4 we started all the testing with our local school district in hopes of getting Madison speech therapy. She was placed in a PLC class (Preschool Language Classroom) and we really saw a lot of changes in her speech but she still didn't really want to talk to anyone. We were told she has a expressive and receptive language disorder.
Now she is in Kinder in a regular general education class she receives speech at school 2 time a week, we really felt that she needed one on one so we decided to go with our own Speech Pathologists. Madison goes to jump start ped. therapy 2 times a week for one on one speech therapy.
SOOOOOOO this is Madison's journey I hope that at the end of it Madison will be able to talk with confidence be able to make friends and understand clearly what is being said to her.
